The agreement aims to achieve a synergistic effect in implementing projects to develop the transport and logistics, tourism, and recreational potential of Sakhalin Oblast, as well as enhancing the competitiveness of maritime cargo volumes through the region’s ports. The main shared goal of the signed document is the collaboration between the parties in modernizing the infrastructure of the Korsakov seaport.
“We are in the final stage of purchasing a controlling stake in JSC Korsakov Commercial Sea Port. We believe that our team’s over thirty years of experience in the transport sector will help unlock the potential of Sakhalin Oblast as a logistics hub, including servicing Sakhalin’s oil and gas projects, fish processing, and the cruise fleet”, said Sergey Shishkarev.
“Korsakov Port is the foundation of the international transport and logistics hub we are creating on Sakhalin and the key to the development of the entire region. We will build fish processing facilities on its territory. This will allow us to change the fish processing logistics, moving it from Busan, Korea, to the Sakhalin coast, and creating a distribution center for fish products. A large container terminal will also be constructed there, and the port itself is expected to become one of the turnaround points for the Northern Sea Route. The new investor intends to invest in infrastructure for these projects, while the government will allocate funds for dredging and reconstructing hydraulic structures. I would like to note that the arrival of the Login Delo company in our region will improve the quality of logistics services, which is important for business development and the implementation of many investment projects”, said Sakhalin Governor Valery Limarenko.
The Sakhalin Oblast Development Corporation has developed a port modernization project that includes a large-scale reconstruction with significant expansion of its boundaries. This involves building a fish port with a deep fish processing plant, a container terminal, protective structures, dredging, and other works. There is also a possibility of equipping the port for cruise ships.
In early June, Login Delo received approval from the Federal Antimonopoly Service to acquire shares in JSC KMPT. Thanks to the development projects, KMPT’s cargo turnover could double from the current 2 million tons by 2030.
