President of the Handball Federation of Russia Sergey Shishkarev had a meeting with General Secretary of the European Handball Federation Michael Wiederer in Vienna on Friday. The participants have discussed development of European handball; the key issues discussed were participation of Russian representatives in European commissions on competitions, beach handball, methods etc. Michael Wiederer noted that representation of CIS and Baltic states in the EHF organization structure would be certainly an asset to handball development in these regions.
The gentlemen also discussed a possibility of holding the Men’s European Championship in Russia and Belarus in 2022. This option was very interesting to Europeans and is due to be discussed further on; Mr. Wiederer said that the EHF would support the joint application of two countries. Moreover, they have discussed common projects in tuition of players, referees, coaches and the online training.
