Ministry of Transport should play a determinative part in long-term planning of transport projects

Ministry of Transport of Russian Federation should play a determinative part in a long-term planning of transport projects. The member of the Expert Council under the Government of Russian Federation, Sergey Shishkarve, shared this point of view in the course of III International Forum “Transport Infrastructure in Russia 2012 – Innovative Way of Development”.
“Currently each Ministry (such as Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Regional Development and others, look at the issue of implementation of transport projects under their own angle. For further development of transport infrastructure of our country Ministry of Transport should take control over the policy of a long-term planning and implementation of such projects in Russia”, – said the expert.
Shishkarev also outlined that “it is very important for the Ministry to move to the long-term legislative planning”. “Possibly, for Russia integration into international transportation flows it is necessary to shift priorities and concentration of powers in main directions. In its turn, the Expert Council under the Government of Russia should support the Ministry of Transport and enhance the level of cooperation for the entire transport community”.
