The refereeing at the final match between teams of Russia and Denmark at the World Women’s (U20) Championship was nonobjective, – said President of the Handball Federation of Russia Sergey Shishkarev.
On Friday Russian handball players won silver of the World Women’s (U20) Championship that was held in Moscow. Russians lots to Danes 28:32 at the finals at sport palace “Dynamo” (Krylatskoye).
“I am very disappointed with the refereeing; it was quite obviously against our team. I don’t want to stir this problem prior to the Olympics, but they were plainly killing our team, the number of whistles and penalties together with 7-meter throws…As a rule they chose one of those but when you get both punishments together time after time, plus 2-minutes suspensions…it is too rough, and emotionally it affected the girls”, – said Shishkarev.
“If we scored with violations, the goals didn’t count; when Danish team played with violations, they were allowed to finish the attack. It isn’t fair and testifies for the biased approach. Nevertheless, it is not an excuse for our team”, – said Shishkarev, pointing out that they will draw attention to the refereeing problem during technical meetings with the International Handball Federation.
