Russian handball players has shown a truly “medal-worth” play at the first match with South Korea at the Olympic Games– said President of the Handball Federation of Russia (HFR) Sergey Shishkarev.

The charges of Evgeniy Trefilov outplayed the national team of South Korea 30:25 at the starting match of the Olympics.

“We can definitely make a claim for medals with this kind of play, – said Shishkarev. Obviously we have failed the start of the second time, making a come-back at the end, outplaying these 7 goals.  The girls showed strong character, it was also important to repay the Koreans for the quarterfinals of the pervious Olympic Games. In any case I am glad that we have wrestled down the competition”.

Evgeniy Trefilov, the head coach of the national team said that his charges will learn samba and rumba for the next match of the Olympics.

“The girls did a marvelous job, wining the hardest match, – said Trefilov. – But we should not ever again repeat the failure of the start of the second time, when I wanted to take a rope and hang myself in the women’s restroom. Prior to the next match we will fix the mistakes by telling the girls all about samba and rumba, and the rest they will figure out. Talking about the Koreans, we did want to repay them (for losing to them at Olympics-2012 quarterfinals), but we nearly repeated that”.

The next match of Russian national team against France will be held on the 8th of August.
