On Friday, July 22nd, in Moscow, the Russian Handball Federation and the Belarus Handball Federation signed an agreement with the SEHA – Gazprom League.
By signing this agreement, the two federations acknowledged that Russian and Belarusian clubs will participate in the 2022/23 SEHA – Gazprom League season. The parties also pledged to make every effort to maintain a high level of competition, refereeing and promotion of handball.
The agreement was signed by Boris Sapozhnikov, Vice President of SEHA – Gazprom League, Sergey Shishkarev, President of the Russian Handball Federation, and Andrey Baletsky, Secretary General of the Belarus Handball Federation.
It is planned that four teams from each country will participate in the new tournament. These are the clubs that ranked the highest in the 2021/22 National Championships.

The format and regulations of the tournament will be approved soon. The start of the new season is scheduled for September 30th.
SEHA – Gazprom League is a South East Handball Association founded in 2011 by the sports federations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovakia, Croatia and Montenegro to develop handball in the Balkans. In 2013, Gazprom became the general sponsor of the Association.
Vardar from North Macedonia has won the tournament five times, Veszprém from Hungary has won four times, Zagreb from Croatia has won once. The 2021/22 season will end on September 4th.
